Our client is a $31 billion diversified technology and manufacturing global leader.

Their Sensing and Control business is one of the world\'s leading suppliers of sensors, switches, machine safeguarding and other devices for a variety of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) applications in the aerospace, medical, transportation, industrial, and test and measurement sectors.


THE JOB

MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Due to continued success and expansion my client is now looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work from their Motherwell offices.

Key Responsbilities:

• Perform mechanical design function on New Product Development (NPD) teams to define customer requirements, develop and select best concepts, design, and implement into production new sensor solutions.
• Work effectively with internal and external, modeling, plastic molding, metal fabrication, magnetic and electrical design resources to produce successful mechanical designs.
• Ensure tasks are delivered on-time and meet financial, performance, quality and reliability goals.
• Participate in prototype builds, development and qualification tests, design reviews, risk assessments, cost analysis, supplier selection and customer meetings.
• Create mechanical models and tolerance analysis to simulate various concepts.
• Create mechanical specifications for new sensor designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team to create test plans.
• Create mechanical design documents for parts, assemblies and finished products.

Essential skills:

Experience in the design of plastic mouldings, stamped and machined metal parts.
Experience in design for medium to high volume manufacturing.
Experience with ProE, CAD or similar design software
Proficient with applicable computer skills such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Pro-E, Minitab

Able to apply DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) tools and methods. - Advantageous
Knowledge of New Product Development process. - Advantageous


REMUNERATION

Basic Salary negotiable(depending on experience), additional benefits will also be discussed at interview.
